The founder of the Indian Animal Welfare Network, Prithviraja Singh is a grade 12 student at Modern School in Delhi, India. He is currently studying Business Studies, English, Psychology, Political Science, and Economics. With a keen belief that learning does not stop at theory, but rather begins with praxis; Prithviraja combined his learnings from Political Science and Business Studies with his passion for animal rights advocacy to create the Indian Animal Welfare Network. He wishes to act upon his strong belief that holistic development in these turbulent and complex times of proliferating globalization and neo-liberalization is contingent on ensuring that no one gets left behind. This extends to marginalized sociabilities and economic groupings, the nature, as well as non-human animal entities– the current systems of domination must be deconstructed by bringing these “othered” entities to the center of the development discourse. He continually seeks to expand his horizons of knowledge, and his active involvement with the Political Science Club is a testament to this truth.
Outside the school, Prithviraja can be found tugging at your heartstrings by strumming on his sitar strings; he has been training since the age of 5, and passed the First year of the Sitar exam offered by Prayag Sangeet Samiti Allahabad with distinction! His magnificent percussion talents, accompanied by distinguished talent in Hindustani Vocal Music make him a formidable musician. He is also a professional equestrian, having won multiple national and international accolades in the International Dressage Development League. The latest learning endeavor that Prithviraja has undertaken is trap shooting!
